Why I update my e71
by nesohu on Sep.11, 2009, under IT
Cell phones updates are available ever since phones have built in memory (ROM, RAM). These updates are technically known as firmware updates. We can easily updated our phones by following just a few simple click. But, how many of us actually D.I.Y.? Here’s a few reasons why I update mine:
1. Bug fixes
Today people can’t wait for new devices to come out. Even before the announcement of a product, tech fanatics (like me) have been updating their RSS feeds for Rumors and Leaks. Hence the manufacturers ships the devices before running sufficient tests. Once the device is found defective they either – Recall or FixIt through a firmware update. Else, you might find your device explode out of a sudden.

One of the main reasons why people upgrade phones is for better User Interface. Nokia releases >30 different phones every year, with minor differences. These upgrades are usually available for older phones to thank them for their continuous support in their line of phones. Besides there are so many themes out there that we can use to customize our phones.
3. Freebies
Mobile phones are the most important device in our modern lives. I got my Nokia e71 for myself last X’mas not because I was influenced in anyway (peer pressure, advertisement and stuffs) but it’s actually a power tool to me. I need the hardware functionality – speed, GPS, camera, 3.5G connection, QWERTY…
Just like a PC that comes with WindowsXP, a mobile phone will only do that much unless you install the necessary applications for it to run. Among the few free apps in my e71 includes:
1. Jabplite (Personal Finance)
2. Quick Office Premier 6.0 – one upgrade that worth at least RM50 by itself
3. Opera Mini – Most popular mobile web browser available.
Just make sure you uninstall those bloatwares that you don’t need.
Btw…for those of you who are hunting for a new phone, don’t wait…get a e71. It’s the only phone I can rely on.

Since it’s the Inauguration, there have been a few technological excitement for ppl with IT background like me. One of it is Obamicon.me
“An Obamicon is an image inspired by Shepard Fairey’s iconic Obama poster, and features red, white and blue cell shading with a simple message underneath.
To make your own Obamicon, just take a picture with your webcam or upload a photo, choose your message, and let the Obamicon generator go to work. Then, you can submit your newly minted Obamicon to the gallery, and vote on others that have been submitted as well. Finally, take your Obamicon and run it through Obamicon.me’s Zazzle store, and you’ll soon have more Obamicon mugs, hats and t-shirts than you’ll know what to do with.” [Obamicon.Me via DYH]
TrojanhorseGallery

I got the Trojanhorse for the 3rd time in the past few months. I didn’t pay attention to the problem until I get these so-call wallpaper informing me that I got a problem in my system
For the past 2 times, I deleted my entire hard disc and installed a fresh windows. But this problem keeps coming back to bug me.
This evening after a meeting with an assignment I’m covering this weekend, I came back with the same nuisance bugging me to format my computer. This time, I noticed that there’s a link on the wallpaper. I tell myself, “what the heck, just give it a try” and luckily it managed to remove the problem without harming my computer.
Now I have a problem with msmgr32.exe which have been bugging me for quite a while. Can someone please offer me some help here? Please
