Toughest 365 days
by nesohu on Jul.18, 2010, under Family, Wedding
It’s amazing how 2 people from different world can stay under one roof for >1 year now. Thanks to the patience and tolerance given, we’ve finally made it through the toughest 365 days. I must really be thankful that finally every gets into place. Time really flies…while others are still saving for their wedding, waiting for their other half to propose, cohabitate 1st only consider.
We can’t afford Disney Weddings, neither can I offer her the freedom from going to work. Luckily, we still managed to spend sometime every month to catch a movie together. Happy Anniversary Chubby…may we face new challenges together in the coming years.
Psst…in case you’re wondering WTF is this. That’s the 100% silk bed cover we just got to replace the semi-synthetic that we slept in for the past 1 year. Silk really makes a huge difference…next time you peeps go Shanghai should buy it.
Tech Talk: Evolution past 15 years

An anonymous reader writes “My father is a veterinarian with a small private practice. He runs all his patient/client/financial administration on two simple workstations, linked with a network cable. The administration application is a simple DOS application backed by a database. Now the current systems, a Pentium 66mhz and a 486, both with 8MB of RAM and 500MB of hard drive space, are getting a bit long in the tooth. The 500MB harddrives are filling up, the installed software (Windows 95) is getting a bit flakey at times. My father has asked me to think about replacing the current setup. I do know a lot about computers, but my father would really like the new setup to last 10-15 years, just like the current one has. I just dont know where to begin thinking about that kind of systems lifetime. Do I buy, or build myself? How many spare parts should I keep in reserve? What will fail first, and how many years down the line will that happen?” – Slashdot
When I have similar request from my dad – to recover all the photos in my Clan Association. I’ll also consider every minute details just to make my dad proud. What I didn’t know is that dad just want a copy of those old photos that is fading away with time. The quality of recovery wanted is not as detailed as those artists paid to maintain paintings in old English churches. After reading what this man wrote, I find that we have been worrying too much because of the way we’re trained at school and in the society. Maybe we should just lay back once in a while and…see how we can lead a happier life.
Birthday 2009

Men usually don’t celebrate birthdays anymore. But for a 27-year-old-to-be, I still love receiving presents. After knowing me for more then 20 years, dad & mom never forgets my birthday. Thanks to them, now I’ve a new flash to paint light with.
1. Happy Receiving a Present (that I choose)

2. Carefully opening the package (yes, it’s refurbished)

3. Nikon SB-400 – my new toy

This flash is so small it slides easily into my jacket/bag when I’m travelling. It runs on 2 AAs and it does add more light to the ambient without causing red-eye/ draining the camera’s battery.
4. Sample shot with a beautiful chef

Irene also ordered Joe McNally’s << Hot Shoe Diaries: Big Light from Small Flashes >> which is a sequel to his famous debut << The Moment it Clicks >>. These books are a blessing for Nikon fans, as Joe is the Guru of CLS (Nikon’s propietary wireless flash system). Thanks Dad, Mom, Qi & Irene.
p/s: Did you notice that I intentionally left my address on the first photo?
