Wedding

Toughest 365 days

by nesohu on Jul.18, 2010, under Family, Wedding

It’s amazing how 2 people from different world can stay under one roof for >1 year now. Thanks to the patience and tolerance given, we’ve finally made it through the toughest 365 days. I must really be thankful that finally every gets into place. Time really flies…while others are still saving for their wedding, waiting for their other half to propose, cohabitate 1st only consider.

We can’t afford Disney Weddings, neither can I offer her the freedom from going to work. Luckily, we still managed to spend sometime every month to catch a movie together. Happy Anniversary Chubby…may we face new challenges together in the coming years.

Psst…in case you’re wondering WTF is this. That’s the 100% silk bed cover we just got to replace the semi-synthetic that we slept in for the past 1 year. Silk really makes a huge difference…next time you peeps go Shanghai should buy it.

Suffolk House Restaurant, Penang

by nesohu on Mar.25, 2010, under Photography, Wedding

Hey Readers, Wussup! Sorry for neglecting you for the past as I’ve been feeling that my time has never been enough for the past 2.5 months. There’s a huge project where a chunk of refurbish machines have to be setup. But hooray, today I managed to clear up my part and I am practically “free” for the next 2 months.

Now with a little time in my hands, I can start writing a little about Valentine’s Day (1 month 10 days ago). I was out of idea what to give my newly wedded wife until she propose that we have a dinner at this exotic location. It’s where Francis Light (Founder of Penang) was claimed to build back in the 1800′s.

I didn’t get much pictures outside as I was eager in going in. Unfortunately, other than the restaurant area, the premise doesn’t allow photography. I managed to snap a few shots before the waiter/ess (can’t judge the sex) come and gave me the No-No sign.

After choosing from the menu (which is especially easy for Vday)…we went out for a few more photos. The garden was really nice and we should’ve go earlier to take more photos outside. When we were back the place is already full. Luckily I called in to make reservations moons before they prepare the menu. Let me show you what they have in the menu. Just click on the photos to enlarge

The food is generally ok if you’re not nit picking. The servings are mouthful at most…but that’s what they are serving – Ambience, Romantic, Couples generous enough to pay hundreds just to be together.

The place is beautiful, and they even have a non-camera-friendly museum upstairs during the morning. I’ll leave you with some photos to end the day. Good night readers.

My Wedding Photo

by nesohu on Apr.29, 2009, under Wedding

It’s 2 more months before my wedding and here I am with my wedding photos. I’ll save the explaination for some other days on how I get things done that fast. Else, the people in business will all go angry at me.

Simply say, the service DeSantia provides shocks me over and over. The photographers make photographs instead of just take them. Besides, the make up artist – cum – manager was quite a pleasant person herself. The staffs are well equiped and the service is worth it. While taking my photos, I did learn a few tricks here and there on how to serve my potential wedding customers next time. There’s much more than creating nice photographs, but to deliver it to the customers & see their happy faces.

Panning Portraits

by nesohu on Mar.17, 2009, under Photography, Wedding

2008 was a year that I’m lucky enough to cover 2 weddings. During the first wedding, my chauffer came up with this idea of panning the wedding car. He’s quite a  nice guy controlling the traffic while driving in parallel with the other car. After slashing through 30 frames, I was quite happy with the results that turned out.

Unfortunately, the couples face was quite dark and I took 4 hours just to fine tune the photo. Click for enlargement. Without falling to the same trap twice, I took a different approach while covering the wedding for Gether & Jennifer.

As you can see over here, the effects are more pleasing and effective. Before the car moves, I fixed my flash on the front seat, and while driving, I trigger the flash remotely using CLS. This allows both the beautiful bride and groom to be clearly visible without much struggle. To allow for panning, the shutter went down to 1/60s. Well, that’s all the photos I have for you today, enjoy~!

Chatolic Engagement Encounter

by nesohu on Mar.02, 2009, under Wedding

Certificate
Whenever 2b tells me about her dream wedding she is so passionate that you can see the sparkle in her eyes. She has all those ideas in her mind since childhood to have a garden/church wedding. Looking at what they did on TV, it’s really magical and much better then the dull weddings I’ve attended? But what I didn’t realized is that we have to do a lot of sacrifices.

As a free thinker, I feel that its easier for me to connect to God in my own way. Praying, On the contrary, 2b finds her communication clearer following the Catholic’s method. According to Catholic Law, a person is only allowed to be married once in the church for his/her entire life. So for the past 1 year she spends every Tuesdays consistently doing biblical studies, pre-baptism courses and what not.

To complete the circle all I need to do is just to accompany her to a weekend compresed course called Engaged Encounter. This “Kursus Perkahwinan” is a stay-in weekend retreat to let the couples to know each other while at the same time, for interfaith couples like us to know a little more about what our partners are doing at church every Sunday morning.

I was told to relax & enjoy the weekend, so I only bring my necessities – which means shorts, t-shirts, and mouth cleaners. Which means I didn’t have any shampoo, soap or boxers with me. Yup, my brother is hanging freely all weekend :) . As the gents and ladies are being separated, I’m resorted to steal my roommate’s soap to clean my ketiak. Don’t worry, no one notices this for the whole weekend as people are too busy keeping up with the tight schedule of the course.

Over the weekend, I get to know a few couple, get a good sleep and away from my computer. What I liked about the event is that the food is aplenty, and the people are very friendly. Best of all, since it’s what 2b wants…she’s paying for this retreat! One of the coordinators is a passionate/pro masseur, as we get to learn a trick or two after the event. This really helps in our relationship as 2b & I loves a great massage more than anything else, even Shopping and Photography. Those facilitators come all prepared that whatever they wanted to expressed can be written into a 2-volume 3″ Pre-wedding manual. Problem is, when you read from the manual, the communication with the audience is blocked by the tables you’re putting ur book on, chair’s you’re sitting on, and there’s no eye-contact.

Other then that, we find that the course structure is really well prepared. It allows the couples to understand themselves, each other and to judge if they are suitable for each other. 2b & I agrees that a few of our non-Cats friends should consider joining this quarterly program held in the comfort of Penang. Others havta travel from Ipoh, JB and even S&S just to attend this pre-requisite course.

I didn’t take any photos during the weekend, but if you are interested, you can visit JJ’s wedding blog. The program overview is similar, but you’ll havta experience it yourself to feel it’s benefits.
