Update on the Worldwide Photo Walk

by nesohu on Jul.19, 2010, under Uncategorized

Hi gang: Here’s a quick update on how we’re doing with the Worldwide Photo Walk:

The Numbers
Wow!!! We’re at nearly 1100 walks around the world, and by the time you read this, we’ll have over 26,000 walkers registered in walks. If you haven’t signed up for a walk, it’s not too late. Here’s the link to get all the details, or sign up for a walk.

The Shirt
We’ve got some really cool t-shirts for walkers and leaders this year (see above), and once again 100% of the profits go directly to the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya(last year we raised over $7,000 to feed and cloth the children), and this year we’re hoping, with your help, to raise even more. Here’s a link to order yours today.

The Love
If we didn’t get another city, Scott’s Publisher Peachpit Press would still be shipping over 2,400 copies of either his Lightroom 3 book, or his CS5 book, all over the world, and that they would be willing to do this to support the walk, is just amazing , so do us a favor and check out their site here, or follow them on Twitter, or Facebook. They publish the very best books on Photoshop, Photography, and all the stuff we love, so please join me in giving them some big love, because without them, we couldn’t make all this happen. Thanks Peachpit (Nancy, Scott, Ted, and crew!!!).

Toughest 365 days

by nesohu on Jul.18, 2010, under Family, Wedding

It’s amazing how 2 people from different world can stay under one roof for >1 year now. Thanks to the patience and tolerance given, we’ve finally made it through the toughest 365 days. I must really be thankful that finally every gets into place. Time really flies…while others are still saving for their wedding, waiting for their other half to propose, cohabitate 1st only consider.

We can’t afford Disney Weddings, neither can I offer her the freedom from going to work. Luckily, we still managed to spend sometime every month to catch a movie together. Happy Anniversary Chubby…may we face new challenges together in the coming years.

Psst…in case you’re wondering WTF is this. That’s the 100% silk bed cover we just got to replace the semi-synthetic that we slept in for the past 1 year. Silk really makes a huge difference…next time you peeps go Shanghai should buy it.

AG Report – President Distinguished Club

by nesohu on Jun.20, 2010, under Toastmasters

After 12 months of hard work from my team, it’s 11 days till I pass the gavel to my successor. Out of the 8 Area in Division S, my area (Area S3) contributes 3 President Distinguished Club. I can’t thank my Presidents more – Loh Chee Keong (Renesas Success Toastmasters Club); Grace Ng (Penang Adventist Toastmasters Club), Heah Theng Chye (Penang Junior Chamber Toastmasters Club).

These presidents, along with their team have placed hundreds of hours calling up speakers, arranging for meeting and calling for role players. Hence there’s a saying that you’ve not seen it all until you’ve been a president of a PDC. At the start of the term…everyone fought from 0 and now….they have finished the term once again with flying colors. I do hope my other peers – YewJin, Jessica and Muthu will catch up with their club performance and put Division S on the charts once again.

Signing off,
Neoh Soon Hueng
Area Governor S3 2009/2010
Division S, District 51

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk – Melaka

by nesohu on Jun.19, 2010, under Photography

Scott Kelby is one of my favorite teacher of recent years. He has taught me not only on Photoshop techniques, but also inspired me to be a better person.

On Saturday, July 24, 2010, the whole world will be walking again with Scott Kelby, president of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and #1 bestselling computer and technology book author, in the Third Annual Worldwide Photo Walk™.

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk is the world’s largest global social photography event in the history of photography itself. It takes place on the same day around the world where photographers of all walks of life and skill levels gather together, usually in downtown areas to socialize, learn new tips from each other, and explore their corner of the world through photography.

This year, I’d be leading a group of photographers from the center of Dutch Square all the way to the center of Malaka’s own Chinatown. Participants will plunge deep into Melaka’s history, beginning with the colonial experience in Dutch Square starting with A’Famosa, St. Paul’s Church and down to the Stadthuys. From there we’ll be walking towards the heart of Melaka’s Chinatown, starting with Cheng Ho’s museum moving through Jonkers Street and Chinese-Malay hybrid culture of the Peranakans along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. We’ll then continue our journey along Jalan Merdeka where we’ll see the new attraction to melaka – The Eye of Malaysia. Finally, we’ll finish at Dataran Pahlawan to review our photos and have our dinner.

Over the last 3 weeks, I’ve already received tremendous response from near and far. There are only 20 seats left at the moment, join us in Melaka this 24th July and I’m sure we’ll have a blast.[WorldWide Photowalk]
